Re: The Glencoe Massacre

In our time is ok when it sticks to humanities subjects but Lord Bragg is so out of his depth with science engineering and medical stuff. His attitude and presenting style is also very centered around him with him interupting guests and moving on to things he wants to discuss. Fully agree though, ma...

Re: Madeleine

Why haven't their local Police / social Work investigated them for neglect of their kids (the living as well as the missing on that night?

They are responsible for her disappearance through poor supervision, and their desire for self publicity is sickening.

Re: One for the railway heads

IIRC the line from Maryhill Central down to Finnieston was protected for the Strathclyde Supertram some point in the past. I guess if the new fastlink to Glasgow Harbour comes about, then a branch off in SECC area to Maryhill via these tunnels would be good. I think (with much googling and wiki'ing)...

Re: The Clyde ferries

http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/editor-s-picks-ignore/could-this-be-the-end-for-the-renfrew-ferry-1.998359 A study for SPT found it would cost £15m to replace the ferries with a pedestrian bridge which would have had operating costs of £130,000 a year. That was ruled out on cost grounds and inst...

Re: Wotton Bassett

I think his issue has now received the publicity he wanted without him having to get cold and wet and without costing Wiltshire Constabulary a fortune in policing.

Re: POW Camps around Scotland

Spent time at Cultybraggen Camp in the early 1950s. There were still notices in German in some of the huts. Go and see it. It looks like a WW2 "movie" set of an army/prison camp. There were "wee" gardens at the front and rear of some of the huts-overgrown-but the Germans must ha...

Re: Glasgow snow spots?

Depends what you want - botanics and glasgow green are good for lots of white type pics.
Somewhere high up with a telephoto lense if you want to see city centre,
A helicpopter for overhead shots.

Re: The A80/M80

Yeah I did Alloa and back today - used to be 45 min for door-door, 1hr due to M80/A80/. This was mid evening (after rush hour) when the drop in speed from 70-40 for 15 miles really gets noticable.

Re: The A80/M80

Google maps suggests that M8/A90 is only 2 minutes longer than A80/M80/A9/A90 under normal circumstances anyway. As long as the Forth Road Bridge is open that should be an easy route, especially with the new motorway link M9-Forth Road Bridge. Both ways it suggests Dundee-Perth-Forth Road Bridge (i....

Washing machine / dishwasher repair

Ok, with characteristically great timing, my dishwasher has packed up - flashing error message indicated PCB failure; then 2 days later my washer/dryer machine decides not to get hot for the dryer cycle and the washing doesn't feel like it reached the 40 degrees in the wash cycle. The washer/dryer i...
