Re: An extinct job?

Wonder what the job (profession) "ticket writer" entailed apart from the obvious?
I take it it's Ticket Writer ( building on the right) only the sign looks like Ticket Whiter - even more obscure? :D

Re: Past Present Vol 2

Thanks Neil - great pics.
Liked the ladies on Argyle St, 1950's :)

For anyone (like me) who didn't know the full history of Buchanan St

Re: Past Present Vol 2

Such a contrast there to see the old buildings of the old street turn into the Galleries

Re: Past Present Vol 2

In the 1968 pic what building and street is that in the background? Is it Buchanan St? I've forgotten what used to be where The Galleries are now. I can't quite get my bearings, but I think it's this building here , and that would be Parliamentary Road which continued on after Sauchiehall Street? Y...

Re: Glasgow 1980, The Photographs of Raymond Depardon.

Great pictures.
Wonder why that wee boy was crying his eyes out at the street corner. :(

Re: An extinct job?

Seeing the picture of the Clippies reminds me of a story a mate told me last week. A photo was posted elsewhere of a couple of 1970's Glasgow kids standing in a back court, both dressed in identical astronaut outfits. Classic 70's stuff - silver lamé suits with NASA badges and big, goldfish bowl pl...

What Street Is This?

Hello All :D

Came across this picture - I'm sure most of you have seen it before.
Does anyone know the name of the street/Place that's running at the top of the hill and to the left of the corner entrance to the hotel?

Thanks

Re: random question

Was there a street on the Clyde that had the equivalent view of a ship being built as in Sting's childhood home in Gateshead?

Re: Not really interesting facts about yourself

You actually saw Fossil? Bloody hell, well done - no mean feat. Yeah, he was really close. It was awesome. At first a little shy, but after a time he came closer out of curiosity I suppose, I patted him on the back before he became nervous again and strode off into the dark. Nevertheless a valuable...
