Re: Oddities

Half of this picture could be in the “Reflections of Glasgow” thread and the other half in the “Water, Trees and Stuff” thread, so I’ve plumped for Oddities!

Re: Museums & Art Galleries

GoMA has preserved plenty of original features inside to make it worth a regular visit, no matter what exhibitions are on display. I still love the external views, weather permitting. I took this snap of the clock tower on a nice sunny day last September. http://www.scotcities.com/goma_clocktower.jp...

Some pictures of Central Station from 1965. http://www.scotcities.com/cathcart/destination_board.jpg The destination board had a colour scheme for suburban routes, green for deisels (platforms 4 & 5) and blue for electric trains (platforms 7 &8). http://www.scotcities.com/cathcart/central_os...

Re: A Greek Tragedy

Great to see John R's pictures of the façades to West Regent Street & Wellington street In 1872, 3 years before his death, Thomson added the Wellington Street extension to an existing town house fronting West Regent Street. He thereafter occupied offices in the new building. Details can be found...

Re: Red & white brick, industrial buildings

If you compare glasgowken’s picture taken last year with mine taken immediately before the collapse, you will notice that the end bays, nearest West Street, were previously bricked up. Removal of this masonry would surely have weakened the structure? There never seems to have been any framework to r...
