Long story short, the once covered up chimney in the bedroom has been reinstated, i have had the plasterer in and sheeted it all out and its back to looking quite ...

Re: Signs 2

I'll meet you there MK ::): The name of this street never really sat very well with me for some reason... :? The second 'Street' sign is helpful too, incase someone might mistake it for an air lane or something... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2121/2545516710_c6b4627a1e.jpg?v=0

Re: Words on the pillars on the bridge near Merchant City??

I think deedee means the old bridge piers for the first Central Station viaduct? If so then the inscriptions in English and Greek read ALL GREATNESS STANDS FIRM IN THE STORM The English translation is a rewording, after Heidegger, of a line from the sixth book of Plato's 'Republic'. It has been sugg...

Re: Shettleston Halls on fire

I went down yesterday afternoon to rally the troops... well... the dozen or so folk I know who live on or just off Wellshot Rd... Central Demolition were onsite then, at about 5ish, though the fire crews had all left http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3165/2518054825_de2f0e9f81.jpg Wasn't long till they...

Re: Shettleston Halls on fire

And really well used by the local communities too, not quite the centre of them, but given the investment it no doubt would be! Here's hoping the uncertainty surrounding LES and LLP's doesn't get in the way of saving and restoring this building! And here's hoping it being a bank holiday weekend wont...

Re: Clyde St

I hear what you're saying Gordon, the over0use of glass is a criticism often levied at the new. I think it's appropriate in this case though. The taller development on the left will be a hotel with the the shorter development being residential - and they'll need all that glazing for when Custom Hous...

Re: Clyde St

Graphical House is staying Dex, Im pretty sure its either listed or a candidate for listing. Really a bit of a shame the Clyde St terrace had to go but its replacement is outstanding! Both of them! I had never seen this building before, despite having walked down that street a million times over the...

Re: When its gone its gone Archive

Gleegie stated brick on FutureGlasgow, still not stuck in it as a palette for Glasgow though, despite it looking ok on this Gehry office building in Dusselforf's media port - Id still much rather prefer metal cladding. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1002/1438633347_570e5464c1.jpg?v=0 Nice to look at...

Re: When its gone its gone Archive

Pity about the cottage, it was quite charming. I really like the proposal though, it works well with its neighbours, act as an interesting axial termination of Otago St and an equally interesting counterpoint to the stunning Caledonia Chambers when viewed from Kelvin Bridge. I'm not entirely sold on...
