Re: Clyde Bridges

This is a joke. No point building all these fancy new things along the Clyde and nothing works right.

I expect if they build this biodome the jaguars will get out in the first week.

Re: Guillemots in Glasgow

Loads of cormorants along the Clyde around Dalmarnock bridge. Trees full of them like something out of The Birds. Couple of herons, loads of ducky things (the technical term).

Re:

Met Amanda Mackinnon from Bis and Beat 106 come in a while back, then made a swift exit when she saw the prices! I now work with her, so it doesn't really count. http://images.radcity.net/5899/446477.jpg She's on the East Kilbride train into Glasgow when I'm coming home from work all the time. I se...

Re: The Barras and its future

Regarding the teapot that I did buy off him - he wanted a fiver for it, I offered him £4...something like that. Anyway, he snatched it back off me, cursed under his breath and mumbled something about 'no way...blah blah blah', and slammed it back down on the table. I left him to sit grumbling to him...

Re: Canal

Woah, here I go bumping an old thread again (well, there's a lot to catch up on!)... Firstly, I'm all for regeneration - especially in and around the city centre as this city has for far too long let large areas sit rotting for the neds and the like to use as their personal playground. The more is r...

Re: The Barras and its future

There's one specific stallholder in the Old Washhouse or Washroom, whatever it's called, who has a lot of different things but specifically old electronic gear and cameras (the main reason I always pop along to his stall for a look). He's a grumpy old sod, though, and won't even hear of any sort of ...

Re: Forth and Clyde Canal

Haha, sounds like a laugh.

There's plenty of jakeys on the canal along through Possil, etc. Usually harmless as long as you say hello.

Re: The Barras and its future

Th Barras, as I see it, has no future because of one thing - the internet. Specifically ebay. Well, more the way the stall holders refuse to budge on their prices even when they know they're not worth what they're asking and you can get it online for half the price or less. I've even heard more than...

Re: Glasgow central ticket people...

They have far too many people on the barriers and they all stand around blethering. Where do you work and could I come round and examine the routine. http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/detail/97/16/23291697.jpg The routine is: 1) Get to work. 2) Put headphones on and block out everyone else. 3)...

There are a bunch more (badly scanned) here for now, though.

Re: Glasgow Exhibition 1911 question

I have just recently bought a page from the Illustrated London News from September 1888 which has a story on the then Queen visiting the first Glasgow International Exhibition. I didn't realise there was more than one until I searched and found this thread.

I really must scan it some time.
