Oh dear!

Well, It seems that people really do care about commercial status and one up man ship (sigh). My mum took us to Paddy's Market for clothes as kids and I wonder why more people don't buy second hand clothes for their kids. We were poor, and do you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so p...

Woof!

Until we dogs get huge underground sewer systems and millions of litres of raw sewage pumped out into the clyde estuary, then I suggest you leave specified areas of the park for our use. And another thing! Woof! Where do you think all those poop a scoop bags go to? Let nature do its thang, and woof ...

Radioactive Blast

Well...who needs inter continental ballistic nuclear weapons when Glasgow Council has quite successfully eradicated most of the city, so they can get to meetings on time. Do you think we will make it in the long run, human beings? I think that Mars was once populated, and they blew themselves up. Th...

Springburn Tenements

We lived in the Victorian tenements in Gourlay street in Springburn, until they were demolished in the 1980s. We moved to the high rise flats in Germiston, and I was only 1 years old. I think we all regretted moving from the tenement flat, and the fact that the area I was born no longer exists is ki...

Wonderful!

Well done Fossil. Those are wonderful images, and great for the likes of me, who now live in another part of the world. THe images of the motorways, really show how the car was responsible for the destruction of large parts of the city. I really don't like cars, and the way they separate people from...

?

Can anyone advise me on how to add photos to the forums? Those are tremendous images.... I often wonder what happened to the debris from the countless tenements that were demolished over that 20 years period from 60 to 86? All the ironwork from the bannisters...all the statues from pediments...the b...

time warp

Actually....Daggs closed in 1973...so how come you've been inside and managed to take photos from the outside? Perhaps it smells so old because the ghosts who let you in, quickly skampered.

ps. only joking.

(head in hands)

Someone has decided to go for the organic form approach, and succeeded in making it look the headquarters for the Smurf foundation. You know....Papa smurf and all the siblings they have...it's the perfect elevated hovel that all smurfs should aspire to, and it actually transcends citch and cliched. ...

The Forbidden Towers

Well...most of us have learned to hate them, but the high rises around Glasgow must surely rank as a great unexplored wealth of increasing abandon. Their day has come and gone, so if we can brave the negative kharma and all those evil spirits that love spaces dedicated to the egos of men, and the un...

the past

Have you ever thought of finding about the previous occupants of the building, and in particular, the part where you now live. I think it is wonderful that you can live in what is basically: a historical building that is relatively untouched from its original design. Have you ever had any experience...

I'm very impressed, and thank you for that wonderful image. You've definitely got some kind of Orb there.

Stunning window and tilework.

wouldn't it be?

:P There aren't words to describe how much I would love to see inside there. Perhaps someone should start a new topic entitled: Victorian Tenement Closes. I for one would love to see the original features of many abandoned buildings like this. (the stained glass on the stairwells and the ironwork on...

brilliant

Wonderful photographs, and I'm getting homesick for the Glasgow tenement. I'm sure there are some beautiful original features in those tenements. A lot of folk in the west end might be surprised to know that this design of tenement was also constructed in the East End... In what is Greenhead Street ...

Another wee bit

And another thing......! Just to get my tuppence worth.... :? I forgot what I was going to say now. Why has no kind of research been done to those who have grown up in the experimental high rises of the 60's? There is a lot of evidence to show that those children became more socially isolated...
