Took a walk through Dumbarton recently and noticed the red brick distillery on the riverside near the castle was missing a few buildings. There's a fair few bites out of the main building as well.
Anyone know more? Is any of it being kept, or is it all on the way out?
Great pics, and very nic website. I love all the locations you have taken pics of. Wish I could get to places like that. Cheers! Nothing to stop you getting to places like that. Ok, so most of them shown on my site are flattened/torched/secured now, but there are always more, all over the place. Wh...
Hi Sharon, Could use a repeat visit to St Peters for the express purpose of taking some decent photos...most of mine lacked sharpness due to my shaky hands!! I'd love to go back there some time soon and explore the upper floors of the main building. From the photos you posted I assume you managed to...
Good black and white film is lovely, it has absolutely amazing dynamic range (something which digicams really lack), and has a tonality that you can't really fake using photoshop. Generally medium speed b&w film using a decent fast lens on an SLR allows you to hand-hold pictures steadily that yo...
I believe they reinforced the fences again because a local ned had a fatal accident in the grounds when he hit a concrete block on his motorbike ::): (probably the same one I'd noticed screaming about at stupid speeds the last time I was there)... Yep, probably the same one that kept deliberately s...
They may be planning to flatten those amazing archway corridors, and 'develop' (see vandalise) the clock tower/imbecile home to turn it into flats. More likely, they'll flatten everything but the facades and build up some glass monster behind them, as is the trend now. When I say vandalise/torch I h...
I took a few shots a couple of years ago. I never did get inside. The security guard was absolutely pished though, and with a bit of convincing he let us through the fence for an (escorted) wander around the buildings.. outside only. They're on my site if you want a look. Address is in my signature....
Hi, It's been a while. I took a trip to Woodilee last week to take some photos before they finally flatten/vandalise/torch it. From what I hear it may not be long now. Shame the fences have been reinforced (again!). http://homepage.ntlworld.com/zerosignal/wudlie/_1283697.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld...
VENT VENT VENT!!! Ahem.. I've been away from UE photography for quite a long time now, so I haven't been keeping up with what's happening, or more to the point, the state of certain buildings. Needless to say, I've just found out about Hartwood. :'( Unbelievable.. I still find it hard to comprehend ...
This any good? http://www.joyce.whitchurch.btinternet.co.uk/maps/north69.jpg Also, I've got a photo of the old SPT network map of the north side which was displayed inside the 303s/311s before they were refurbished. Cheers, David http://homepage.ntlworld.com/zerosignal/botanics1.gif
Its all over. The last 303 service, worked by 303011 and 303088 left Glasgow Queen St at 0927 on the 30th December. A huge crowd of enthusiasts, passengers, press and Scotrail employees boarded the express service to Helensburgh. They were given complimentary souvenir tickets, a postcard bearing a m...
