Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, You're right neilmc. With no side windows and solid rubber tyres the Albion must have been a joy to drive. A few years back I went on a Group Visit to Summerlee Heritage Centre one summers evening. The Tram Boys taught us how to drive a couple of trams. The Belgian model and the Lana...

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, Driving through Slamannan you can't miss the Morris Minor Two Door Saloon in Black probably 1962 model. Closer inspection revealed there is a fan fitted to the dashboard facing the driver. Must be fro cooling the driver down. Not for me I have an Auxiliary Electric Heater fitted to a...

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, glad to help neilmc. 1988 was the year of the Glasgow Garden Festival and the year my Dad passed away. Curious why you have a 1988 Glasgow Telephone Directory to hand. I looked at the On Line BT Directory and the word Planet coughs up: Cool Planet Technologies, Forbidden Planet Ltd, ...

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, thanks for trying neilmc. The Ford Escort Van has a Registration Mark that would have originated in North London. Wimbledon, Boreham and Sidcup. My thoughts are a National Chain of some kind. Does that jog any memories? Love your Dad's jersey. That was the era when every man was give...

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, BTJustice nice to see classics together.

Today's post is two classics on a sunny day in Clarendon Street Glasgow.

A beautiful Rover P5, pristine and looking the part beside Maisy Morris.

Neilmc, fancy doing an "instamatic" job on this pic?

Re: Oddities

Volunteer here, Thanks Banjo.

Used to visit the Goodyear for the Country and Western Nights a few years back.

The colourful character wasn't there these nights. C & W isn't for everyone.

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, Thank you old jock. I looked in the cab and it is littered with loads of Parking Tickets from the Pay & Display machine. If you cast your mind back to the TV programme “The Gaffer” starring Bill Maynard. In the opening scene he arrives at his tacky old Rover P6 3500S and rips a P...

Re: Oddities

Volunteer here, Thanks robertpool for the reply.

Hats off to John for his outgoing personality.

I am guessing he gives his time to the Glasgow Old Peoples Welfare Association Charity Shop behind the parked cars in the pics.

More folk like John needed.

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, Yes indeed Boxer6. Thanks for the compliment. She goes by the name of Maisy. Purchased four years ago and I have covered 80,000 miles during that time. That's more than the 65,000 on the clock when I bought her following her registration in 1961. An every day car, not just for high d...

Re: Oddities

Volunteer here, The day is the General Election 2015. My earlier post of a chap in Dumbarton Road is followed closely by this one. As I stood at the junction of St Vincent Street and Renfield Street I noticed the man in the pics. Didn't look like a local to me. No shoes and stood out side Moss Bros....

Re: Oddities

Volunteer here, Partick Cross, Dumbarton Road.

Charity Shop worker helps customer load a fish tank into their car.

The out fit is loud, very loud. Not sure if it was for a promotion or not.

This day is the General Election 2015.

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, Yes indeed Boxer6 real chrome. Worth the extra cost. Today's Pics. In the car park at the junction of Byres Road and University Avenue a curious little van. A VW lookalike. Dexter St Clair posted a pic of this van in July 2013. The van looks a wee bit jaded now. Some TLC required I r...

In the Basin below the museum is part of the canal branch from the Monklands Canal. There is the Vulca...

Re: Old Cars etc Spotted

Volunteer here, not unhappy with neilmc's treatment of the pic with the Morris at Capercleuch AA Box. Nicely done. The modern give away is the BT joint dangling on the telegraph pole. Years ago it would have been a lead cable or the later PVC. The joint casing would have been a bottle ender named su...
