I was in and around Elder Park fairly recently and don't recall having seen it there.

Re: Where was this photo taken?

The statue shown by pingu is by Charles Benham Grassby, according to http://www.glasgowsculpture.com 'His best known architectural work in the city is the group representing Christ Restoring Sight To A Blind Child on the tower of the former Blind Asylum, 92 Castle Street (1881 )' http://www.glasgows...

Re: Where was this photo taken?

I've had a look through Ray McKenzie's books, 'Sculpture in Glasgow' and 'Public Sculpture of Glasgow' and haven't seen the statue in your photograph. However, not all the statues are photographed. I'm convinced if the statue is in Glasgow, it will be in his book somewhere. You could look on the web...

Re: blue badge parking

About ten years ago, my Dad parked on double yellows outside the Western Outpatients using his blue badge, thinking he was legally able to do that. He was 'popping in' to pick up a prescription and had done his usual tour of the car park at the hospital, finding it full. Of course he ended up waitin...

Re: Choose 3 buildings you'd like to introduce to a bulldoze

A trip down memory lane: http://www.mycityglasgow.co.uk/index_files/transportm.htm ..........and my (polite) take on the Riverside Museum: http://www.mycityglasgow.co.uk/index_files/riverside.htm And I believe its correct name is the Museum of Science and Transport, which attempts to explain away so...

Re: RBYes ????

I am a luddite, Avenger. I don't do online banking. I do every purchase, payment and transaction that I need to do online via this credit card. Keeps everything together and simple. Also, I like the protection / insurance aspect when using the card. Apparently, I have now been told, I can set up a D...

Re: RBYes ????

I use Paypal on ebay (don't get any choice these days, really) and it is linked to the same credit card.

RBNo said the bill could only be sent to the principal account holder.

I'll just take my card with me when I pay, until they come up with some other objection!!

RBYes ????

I am in the unfortunate(?) position of not owing any money to anyone. So I find that when I apply for a credit card, because I have no 'credit history', I get a knock-back. Now, I wanted to shop on ebay, buy things online and I like the insurance you get when payng for large items by credit card; so...

Re: Glasgow's seven zebra crossings

Bobby, that's an award from the Kelvin Hall for proficiency in cycling for youngsters. Every year, I think it was at the Modern Homes or something, they used to set up a miniature cycle track, like a street, with traffic lights and zebra crossings and suchlike, all child-sized. Children were then gi...

Re: Battle Burn

Josef, the building next to it (where the new flats are now, behind the fancy gate with the arch over it) was some kind of children's hospital at one time. That gate does not appear to be connected with the hotel, we think it was originally a house called Oakpark, at 221 Hamilton Road, according to ...
