Re: Not really interesting facts about yourself

Belated congratulations to ye.

Hopefully the spouse isn't too crazy, but just crazy enough :)

Re: What song are you listening to?

The Donnas - Too Fast for Love. What's not to love? The drum solo in particular is just fab, man.

Re: Glasgow People

You want to re-size your photos there, DMcNay - we're missing a bit. The visible bits are good though :)

As for the Death Stare, BT!

Re: The meat-free thread

One of the best bowls of soup I've ever had was had in Stereo - spinach, potato and chilli. Sounds awful, but man it was good. A wee kick to it, and the tatties were done as delicious wee millimetre-thin slices. Braw.

I keep hoping to see it on their menu again, but never have.

Re: Whit's fur tea?

Beer.

(I'll make some food in a wee while, honest. Most likely pasta, with some chorizo and broad beans and hot pepper sauce/olive oil. The Italians would rightly be appalled.)

Re: Shawlands Arcade

I struggle to see the place as being in trouble, I'm afraid - all things being relative and all that. There's any number of areas in any number of cities and towns with boarded up shops a-plenty, and Shawlands just doesn't feel like that. The out-of-town shopping centre phenomenon is a general bligh...

Re: Past Present Vol 2

Seconded. Number 18 jumps out - looks like the shop's not been painted since then, and what a difference in the tenements in the background. All cleaned up and yellow, with those towering chimneys gone.

Re: Shawlands Arcade

If the Shawlands Arcade site had been built on like the opposite side of that stretch of Kilmarnock Road in 1890-ish, would there be any desire to demolish and replace it with a 2010s shopping centre? If it can't be refurbished, then replace it with something unambitious and low-profile. Some big mo...

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

Superb. Well jealous :)

I particularly like the well-thought-out surveillance camera arrangement there. Though good grief, some of the scenes are sad.*

Re: Edinburgh

A braw photo, Dazza. To be honest I wish the ERI had never gone away from there, to lose such continuity from its origins, and a central location (not to say the new one is like an out-of-town shopping centre, and glossing over the scandalous financial doings entirely) but it's a bit late for such s...

Re: Hospitals & Asylums

That's some high quality workmanship for sure. Beautiful. Presumably the curved corners everywhere (especially at the ceiling) were for easy and effective cleaning.

It does make it look like the biggest Victorian toilet in existence, mind you.
