Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

I'm hearing that a number of residents in the surrounding houses were ready to refuse to be evacuated from their properties to accommodate the blow down - I'm sure the negative publicity that would have ensued played a part in ditching the ceremonial demolition. H&S is used all too often as an e...

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

Plans to demolish the 5 towers of the Red Row Flats during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games have been shelved on erm "safety grounds" according to BBC & STV news websites. Nothing to to with the strong public opposition to the proposal at all.....aye right. Maybe Councill...

Re: Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines

Great Pics Helen

Seen it coming in to land around lunchtime, just as I was bringing the shopping in so no camera.

Tonight's news said the pilot had requested to take this flight and fly over his home town of Clydebank.

Wait until you see the next round of service cuts / route changes planned for the End of April. Go on spill the beans, just bought a four week before the new prices kick in, how bad is it going to get. Saved the details of Service Cuts / Changes to a pdf file - which can be found in my shared dropb...

Re: Tower Block Demolitions - Rolling Updates!

No mention that the tower which will remain after the global demolition derby, is being used to house asylum seekers. Quite frankly I find it embarrassing that when Glasgow has the chance to promote itself and Scotland to the world, Matheson and his cronies resort to cheap stunts which in the cold l...

Re: cafe nero

Just noticed on the council planning bulletin that Cafe Nero have planning permission in for the old Roots, Fruits shops at 351 - 355 Byres Road, pity, that would have made a great charity shop. No fan of coffee shops, but can't see what benefit yet another charity shop would bring to the Westend, ...

Might be worthwhile checking with the Mitchell Library for a later directory

Re: Not really interesting facts about yourself

Looks like I'm back on the scrap heap at the end of the month - the suits & accounts have been crawling around since the turn of the year, and announced their shutting the place effective from the end of March. I've only been there 13 months but it was more or less the same job I'd done since le...
