Re: random question

Glasgow Necessitous Children's Holiday Camp Fund ? Was it not something to do with Barnardos? Nope can't find it under either of those suggestions. It wasn't a residential school, think it was either the Co-op or some religious organisation. I do remember it was in a large house in N Berwick and al...

Re: Not really interesting facts about yourself

I hate it when I have to explain a joke. :D I would like to make an interruption to the posts here, if I may, to add that the No 9 is now called the No3. Some of you may remember that the No 3 did indeed exist before as the bus that ran to Kelvindale - I can't remember when however I'm sure someone...

Don't know about the rest of you but back in the day when someone threw me thruppence or sixpence my preferred method of gorging on cheap sweeties was chocolate(?) first MB etc, bright coloured next - refreshers, lovehearts and always last - the bubble gum. I once threw up bright pink illuminated vo...

Re: Swedgers

Now that I stop to think about it, that Skybar wrapper says its` made by Necco. Sounds suddenly familiar. Didn`t they do other stuff too way back in the 70`s? Drinks, biscuits or something? They still around??? Yes. I contacted Tim Berners-Lee and he came up with this http://www.necco.com ::): ::):...

Re: "People make Glasgow" the new city brand

I disagree Sharon I think it's too short-sighted and it's not enough to concentrate on the character of the inhabitants in order to package the place for conferences and business. That's certainly a nice picture but it's only relevant really to someone who already knows the place and feels comfortab...

Re: "People make Glasgow" the new city brand

Sounds a bit over-thought to me; the result of trying to distil something from a vapour that was too dilute in its very beginning. My tactic (for what it's worth) would have been to go for something that is inherently glaswegian, with gnarly-but-honest old roots spreading from Pollok to Partick and...
