In the early to mid ninites I worked in Bridgeton. Not exactly Alicante, itself but one day there was severe flooding and all the lower roads were flooded so I had to go up through Haghill to get home. It was the first time I'd ever been there (having always stayed away) and I couldn't believe it. I...

Actually I like the new BBC building although nobody else on HG seems to, judging by the comments I've seen so far. I'm dying to see what it looks like inside. No doubt there will be an open day for the public at some point when it's finished. I was going to say that someone else took issue with me...

It pisses me off that the last bus to Motherwell on weekdays is 11.30pm but if you live in EK you can get buses to God knows when.

All those encores I've missed....

Heavy armour stands a good chance of defeating all but the largest charges. It's in my mind that a shaped charge will penetrate steel armour to something like 5-7 times the charge's diameter, but ceramic armour (eg Chobham) stops it. I don't know if the tanks in question have ceramic but basically ...

Motherwell is one of the main stations in the Glasgow area. It's manned and has a ticket booth but try getting a ticket there. They have two windows and one of them is usually closed. The other is usually taken up by a wee old woman that's booking a ticket to Blackpool four months in advance but doe...

I walk past this building a lot since most of the time if I'm walking from Buchanan Bus Station to the West End, I'll avoid Sauchiehall Street by walking up Renfrew Street. Often wondered about the bust so it's nice to have my suspicions confirmed. I knew it was Beethoven so I just assumed it must h...

Re: Dumgoyne

Most specifically - is it mountain bike-able ? I don't mind carrying for a little bit. Ally, I've walked up this hill and enjoyed every minute of it. I have never ridden up on a bicycle. If you are a young fellow with a good mountain bike (well, get one!) and helmet, and some meaningful bicycle exp...

Thanks Graham.

The Strathclyde Park is no Bealach na Ba but there is a hill in the north east corner of the park (basically where the Bothwellhaugh Roman fort was built).

I vaguely recall seeing rally driving or racing at the Strathclyde Park.

Probably at least 20 years ago or even longer.

Details, anyone?

I was on the scene of the West End Bank Heist and as it happened I was also on the scene of the Great Bendy Bus Crash. I was on the 10am Skye bus from Buchanan Street (went up to Bridge of Orchy for a jaunt up the hills) and our bus pulled over. The driver put on his hi vis vest and crossed the road...

I think we are on dangerous ground here. Are you sure if you stopped the average Glasgow housewife or Kappa clad ned or any of the faded sports jackets coming out of William Hills that they would know what country the city of Baquba is in or who the secretary for defence is? I doubt it. It's just as...

I was on the underground the other day sitting across from an old woman. First she took some batteries out a bag, threw the plastic bag on to the floor of the carraige, then the cardboard container of the batteries followed the bag on to the floor. Then she went into her handbag and took out boiled ...
