Re: the secret lavvy network: the true meaning

Can remember using the Govan x ones regularly through 70's and 80's and the St enochs sq ones in 80's also. Having lived in Edinburgh for 13 years cant think of any underground loos at all never mind in the same mould as Glasgows.

Re: Lost Football Grounds

stumbled across, on google maps, what looks like an old ground in Shettleston area. Rather large oval that looks to have been banked for terracing. Back of Inveresk Street, any ideas?

Re: The Garngad

Was it The Garngad where the 'famous' tribute to Celtic players was marked out by the cobbles in the street?

Re: Southern General Hospital

I was born in the Suffering, and spent my formative years living within a few hundred yards (Aboukir Street and Langlands Road) until I left home at 21. My Mum even worked in the kitchens for a while in the late '70's. It has alway (in recent memory) alway been a real mish mash of buildings - I supp...

I'm sure it was actually used as a taxi cab office in the late '80's early '90's which would be after the auction judging by the signage of the auction house.

Re: Gable Ends and semi-demolished tenements

I knew there had to be a thread on HG devoted to the gable ends of semi-demolished tenements, no matter how denuded of it's photo content by the ravages of time ::): Anyway, here are two more from Tollcross showing the internal decor of six former family homes: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5015/5...
