Re: Oldest Tenements

So this brings me to the point.... was this one of the first buildings on Alexandra Parade??? Hi Panda This is the only question I can answer. It does look like they were the first residential buildings on Alexandra Parade, have a look at the 1892 Town Plan . That site should come with a health war...

Re: Milestones

That looks suspiciously like it was taken from my hometown hungryjoe! I'm on the train there at the moment :) Prestwick? "Sunny" Girvan :) I think that photo's taken from Girvan beach, as when you're as far north as Ayr/Prestwick the southern side of the Craig is much less steep, and the ...

Re: Milestones

There's one pretty much across the street from my flat, hidden behind a tree and sitting in a recess in a wall, on the south side of Paisley Road West near the junction with Copland Road. I'll take a photo when I go to the shops later.

Re: Ibroxholm Oval Demolition

It's another nibble-down. It's a year-long contract, so the latest end date will be next May. Asbestos stripping will follow the perimeter securing, so any time now. They're issuing a regular newsletter to the local residents, depending on your definition of regular. Good to know, thanks! Will need...

Re: Ibroxholm Oval Demolition

Looks like they're starting to strip these out soon, just noticed this evening that there's hoarding being built round the perimeter.

Re: Broomloan Court (Ibrox) Demolition

Was there a fire in one of the blocks last night? I can see some indication of a fire from Hillpark. Haven't heard or seen anything to suggest a fire, but living round here makes you immune to sirens! Wouldn't be too surprised though, as the 1930s tenements across the road were set on fire pretty m...

Re: Broomloan Court (Ibrox) Demolition

A bit. They've also extended the working day from 8 till 6 to 7 till 7. Next one up (or down) is the block that's not in your photo. Excellent, more chances for action shots :) It looks like they're making rubble platforms (no idea what the technical term is) around the one nearest Broomloan Road, ...

Re: Broomloan Court (Ibrox) Demolition

Looks like things are speeding up a little! http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1282/4707304340_78ba206d79.jpg I took some video the other day but haven't figured out how to rotate it so it's the right way up. Was very surprised to see them work almost a full day on Sunday - are they running behind sched...

Re: Broomloan Court (Ibrox) Demolition

Can't believe I didn't have the camera on me when they were working. Considerably less artistic than Josef, but here's my tuppence worth for today. Hope no-one (particularly Crusty Bint) minds that I've been flinging all of my daily snaps into the Glasgow Demolition group on Flickr! http://farm5.sta...
