What nobody has mentioned is the role that those 2 cubpoards on the first floor played. If you look on the exposed part of the 2nd floor above, there are no such intrusions into the inner wall, which must be how the building is intended to be. Surely this shows that the inner wall has been breached ...

I took similar photos so i'll not bother repeating. The view from the 4th floor of the adjacent building where i work hasn't turned out to be very interesting!

Apparently they're working on the demolition 24hrs a day and it will be gone by Friday latest...

Missing, Wellington Street - demolition

The building next to my office started to fall down on Friday at 5pm... apparently the police lifted nearby cars and then efforts were made to shore up the building. Its on the corner of Wellington Street and Holm Street and used to have Missing Records in it. Its been completely neglected for ages ...

It just strikes me as an amazing coincidence. I was hoping these buildings would get to stay - its a shame that the docks are simply not going to exist any more - the Finnieston crane is going to be the only sign that anything industrial was there at all!

had roughly the same experience - managed to get a table just by walking in which is a relief to be honest - sometimes a sense of panic sets in when looking for food anywhere near Byres Rd without having a long wait! Main problem was that it was incredibly hot upstairs with no sign of any ventilatio...

I second Chow on Byres Road - consistently excellent, if a little pricey.

'New Blue Sky' at Broomhill Cross - consistently poor... shame I live next to it as I still can't resist sometimes!

I live just up from all this desctruction at Broomhill Cross on Crow Road however was blissfully unaware until I was out for a cycle last week - I was gobsmacked. I'd not heard a word about this. An American lady tourist on a bike stopped me to ask me where the cycle path was. I explained there had ...

Sorry for replying to an old thread, but i only just noticed it! Am a huge fan of the 'Queens' and have visited both the QM in Long Beach and the QE2 however I don't think either could practically return to the Clyde. The amount of maintenance required on these ships is immense, even if they're just...

That 1927 directory is fascinating.

I managed to find my address, but it only showed 1 name against it, whereas its an 8-flat tenement block... what does that mean?

Absolutely fascinating!

I'm sure the lights came from the old liner - if you look closely you can see Stars on the roof lights, in the symbol of White Star, who owned the Homeric.

Would love to see this sometime...
