Re: The Lord Darnley, Pollokshields

The back was opened as a restaurant which they called Rizios. Didn't take off so eventually it was an overspill from the (very crowded) downstairs bar.

Re: ...O' Henry's to The Big Blue to Inn Deep

Not about the pub but that picture of Fraser Hughes' shop was a blast from the past. A hardware store which also stocked vinyl it was owned by a friend of my father's, a guy called Tommy Hughes. He was a ham radio enthusiast and also had the first colour telly I ever saw (I was pals with his son and...

Re: Lyons Factory on Craigton Road, Govan

I worked there for several weeks in the summer of '75 when I was a student, quite an eye opener for a teenager. Lots of tension between the workers and floor managers and quality control but a great deal of "banter" which these days would not be tolerated. Guys dipping their hands into liq...

Re: Lost record shops of Glasgow

LP Records has opened in Park Rd. Went in today and enjoyed a quick browse in a very light and airy shop, leaving with a Fats Domino LP and half a dozen 45s - all reasonably priced. Worth a visit. Re: Lost record shops of Glasgow

record shop opening soon next to the Allison arms.so I was told. That strikes me as an odd place to open a record shop, though there used to be one many years ago further up the road towards Shawlands near Craig MacMartins cycles. Not such an odd location, lots of young hipsters invading the South ...

Re: Lost record shops of Glasgow

Has anyone seen a pic of Listen records Cambridge St on the web and/or Virgin in Argyle St? There's a short glimpse of Listen (Union St. branch I think) in this film from the Scottish Screen Archive along with shots inside the Muscular arms. http://ssa.nls.uk/film/T2051?search_term=glasgow&sear...
