Apparently it's because they've decided that people were "giving them to their friends to use", even though tickets have a 5-minute delay to prevent exactly that.

Dexter: People do that anyway, when they hear the train or feel its wind, and they have to run since the drivers don't hang about. I don't think it's much of an argument for forcing people to waste ten minutes on the platform.

I really like those digital signs they have on the subway now, but wish they'd put how long it is until the next train at ground level as well as on the platform. Currently at ground level all it says is "frequency 8 minutes" ... but is the next train in 2 or 8? That's the difference betwe...
