Some time after 9:30am going by the Safedem flyer, which I've uploaded to http://sdrv.ms/14Dpp6f - it was too big to attach.

Many helicopters over Glasgow

Hi all,

Did anyone else just see several helicopters over Glasgow at the same time, quite high up and heading in different directions?

Very odd, I wonder whats going on...

They are still about, visible from Battlefield looking North - look like they are over the city centre.

Cheers,
Ian

Langside Parish Church fire

Sad to say that Langside Parish Church at the corner of Ledard Road and Lochleven Road is burning down as I write this.

I just had a wee look at your video Ian as given in the link above. Superb stuff i can see the attraction now. Those Locos are a fair size. Here's one on our home turf - didn't come out well because the locos were pretty much idling through, and the lack of daylight :-) http://video.google.co.uk/vi...

I don't know much about trains. Although i have always been interested in them when i see one. Is there anything special about the McBuffer Puffer Diesel Unit in terms of it being rare these days etc. Is that type of Diesel still in use or is it almost obsolete? I see from Alycidons timetable that ...

They should have kept it open and electrified it rather than closing it!

Either way, it is bizarre that the SPTE allowed this at the time, when they are now so pro-rail. Its just as well some other mid-80s proposals didn't happen: 1. Closure of the Neilston line south of Williamwood (?) to allow the electrified services to be diverted to East Kilbride, with the closure o...

Indeed, but it was closed for 7 years or so, where the track was lifted between Paisley Canal and Elderslie, killing off what would be a most useful diversionary route towards Kilwinning. The trackbed has now been built on, the chances of this line re-opening as it was are nil. :-(
