wasn't that sulton lane, which runs off ruthven street, rather than ruthven lane, which runs of sulton street? there was a fire on ruthven lane too back in the 80s, in what i believe was a paint shop. most of the building was re-built, but because its a rebuild it means its not saved from being torn...
