The bridge is currently closed to all traffic and undergoing repair after Network Rail and GCC finally banged their heads together:

Re: Driving in the Dear Green Place.

Advert in today's ET informing us that on-street parking charges in the periphery of the city centre are going up on Sept 20th - quite dramatically if you stay more than a couple of hours. Areas like Dundasvale, St Andrew's Square, up around the Infirmary etc. Current rate: 10p for 12 mins New rate ...

Re: Revamp for Odeon

Rest assured there was pretty much nothing left internally of much value, and that other folk with an interest had been in and taken various unpretty but useful technical bits and pieces towards the end. The reels were just reels, used when making up and breaking down complete films from their compo...

Re: Buses Today

That's essentially the reply I got from First Bus on Twitter yesterday - that Lanarkshire routes are based on distance travelled, despite the fact that EK is in Lanarkshire and further away than I am, but still only £1.90. Didn't get a response when I pointed this out... I wouldn't be so annoyed had...

Re: Buses Today

There is no map online of where the city zones end - used to be up until recently but it was inaccurate. I'm in one of the nether regions on the outskirts that was originally within them but is now seemingly outwith, and therefore subject to the frankly ridiculous £3.45 fare. Except on night buses, ...

Re: Bus Lane Fines (grrr)

There are 24-hr bus lanes. We don't have 24-hr buses. No-one at GCC has ever attempted to justify this. Dunno if it's still the same, but for months, the sign on the pole warning drivers on Argyle St that Glassford St on the right was a bus lane was bent to face entirely the wrong direction. Anyone ...

Re: One for the railway heads

Shuggy - in my experience, search the week before and the week after the 12 week figure - the advance fares rarely seem to go on sale bang on the right date. Indeed, I think I once had to wait till 10 weeks before for some reason! Also, it's worth searching for tickets for the different legs of your...

Re: house on London road

I think it's glorious - world needs more folk like this, and I sincerely hope they don't get heavy-handed and try to cover it all up for the Games next year.

Re: Steepest Streets in Glasgow

The runaway lorry was the next one along, Garnet St - I always had a notion it was steeper, but the signs at the bottom say it's a 17% incline, compared to 20% for Scott St.

Re: One for the railway heads

Result!

After prodding them twice over the lack of response to my query, I eventually got told that the half-price off-peak returns for members of the Advance loyalty scheme would be extended to the end of May. Sort-of result, I guess!
