Re: Round stones Garscube estate

I've seen them lying in the woods before and assumed they were part of the old Garscube Estate House. Might be wrong? There is a good photo of it on this page (near the bottom) https://www.caingram.info/Scotland/Pic_htm/garscube_estate.htm Edit - looking at that photo there is not an obvious match s...

Re: Hiking near Glasgow?

Anyone looking for a less hilly hike, with a good pub stop half way, may be interested in a route I tried last week as a trail run (minus the pub stop). Starting from the train station in Milngavie following the West Highland Way until Glengoyne Distillery and the Beech Tree Inn. At this point turn ...

Re: Glasgow Photo Clubs

I went to the Met's introduction to photography course at the end of last year and would recommend it. A great mix of topics and nothing too technical for a beginner. The course lead on from one another too so if you like it you can sign up to the next block.

Horns at Charing Cross

Anyone know why there has been a constant noise of car horns at charing cross for the last half hour? It sounds more than just a traffic jam but unfortunately I can't leave the office to go check it out.

Re: Glasgow Activities along the Underground Route

I'd recommend getting off a Kelvinbridge and taking the short walk along the River Kelvin walkway past the ruins of the Woodside flint mill into the 'back door' of the Botanics at the top of Byres Road. Once you're in the Botanics check out the Kibble Palace, the old railway station and the greenhou...

Sorry should really have added this for ease of reading. Old streetmap. It started at St Georges Cross, according to this and lead right onto New City Road. New City Road formed a junction with Cowcaddens Street (not Cowcaddens Road as it is now) at the location of the underpass next to the Undergro...

Looking at James' map there seems to be quite a large blank space in the area of ground surrounded by Northwoodside Rd, Hopehill Rd, Grovepark St and Cedar Street (the area that is now Lidl, Iceland and a housing development) Does anyone know what was in this area?
