You could be correct there Josef, I think this could have been the start of the breakdown of the good pub/Band scene in and around Glasgow around the mid 80s, I could be wrong here but I remember playing in bands in the early 80s and the band got payed a negotiated amount from the pub and the gig wa...
Aye Toomsk if Underhand Jones or The Dolphins re unite I am sure they would write one of their turgid songs about you and your heroic exploits. As I emphasise again you like them I don't. I can't recall UHJ being regulars at the Mayfair but i do suppose John McCalman, Heid Bummer at Clyde 2 would h...
I do believe John McCalman of Radio Clyde actually managed Underhand Jones. I don't want to cast aspersions on the band but I think John managed to plant a story in the local rags about the tapes for their first album/single being stolen from the back of a car. Possessing a copy of Jammy but Nice i...
What about the band Scheme for The Glasgow Rock Hall of fame. The only unsigned Band to headline and pack out The Glasgow Apollo in 1984, there was this myth that Scheme were only ever followed by Neds and Junkies which was absolutely not true, they were admired and followed by fellow musicians and ...
...Ok...My sincere apologises to any annoyance my witterings with Todd may have caused...it won't happen again.....music is one of my passions.....and I do enjoy 'constructive' debates on music..from whatever era... NO you were quite right to answer Mr Toddy back Thom405L, after all he was having a...
...and what about the greatest band from Glasgow that wasn't signed up....The Dolphins. Ok..I'm going back a bit...to the '80's ....but they were an amazing live band...who played the Dial Inn, Doune Castle and the legendary Kelvingrove Park gigs... before progressing to the Mayfair (now the Garage...
My comment was meant to be for the pic a few pages back showing a photo of a completely different bandstand with streets and tenement buildings in the background i.e. Queens park. not the pic above which is obcvously Kelvingrove.

Alex Glass suggested I post here, so my nomination is: Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio (and formerly of Radio Clyde). A top bloke who has a real passion for music (particularly rock) and has interviewed all the big names of Glasgow and beyond. Check out a recent interview with Tom Russell... http://...
Yeh, that is Queens park bandstand, the big give away is that Kelvingrove doesn't have tenement buildings at the back of the bandstand as there is a PARK there!

Where else on the web can you get information about local Glasgow bands from the 80s? GB80 has interviews with the band members from this period it has Photos, videos, music and line ups from each band....The Glasgow band H2O made it onto "Top of the Pops" in 1983 yet there is nothing on t...
