 I have now found out that Overtoun House had nothing to do with this friend of mine. I was convinced that Clydebank Childrens Hospital was mentioned to me (I even wrote it down), Oh it must be since I turned 40  The Hospital in question was good old Rotten Row and I know where that is o...

My Kitten Wrote: Strange that it has Overtoun House listed as Clydebank as its a good bit away from there in Milton. Any searches that I have made regarding Overtoun House come back with mention of Clydebank. I am reasonably confident that Clydebank Childrens Hospital is ident with Overtoun House. R...

The Childrens Hospital was Overtoun House, it was turned into a Maternity Hospital at the end of the 1940's. I have now sent off a photograph and short history of the Hospital to the friend of mine that was looking for the information, I am sure they will be over the moon. Once again, thank you to y...

Clydebank Childrens Hospital 1953

I would be grateful if anybody has any information on a Clydebank Childrens Hospital. I am led to believe that there was a hospital by this name in 1953. A friends brother died here in 1953 and the name of this hospital was on the death certificate. The family have since moved abroad and I am trying...

Oh I think it would have to be the 1780's through to the 1850's in the Parkhead area to see just how bad the conditions would have been for my family. I try to imagine what it would have been like but until you experience that sort of deprivation I don't think you really understand and I don't think...

Excellent site. I have already had a great deal of help. The site would appear to still be in its infancy but with the right input will no doubt go from strength to strength.

Well worth a visit.

My GGG Grandmother Ann Trainer actually lived in Coal Hill Street. I am now led to believe that Black Land is in fact Back Land. Land was used in reference to Tenements, My GG Grandfather was born at Moffats Land, Westmuir Street in 1839 and I am told that this would have been a Tenement owned by a ...

My Kitten, Schiehallion I thought it was the Great Eastern but was unsure and thought it would be best to check with those on HG who have a far better knowledge of the area than me. I am hoping to get out and get some photographs of the area next weekend so I am extremely grateful for the informatio...

Road Name

Looking for a wee bit of help on a road name from the 1851 Census. Relatives are shown staying in the Parish of Barony at 297 G.E Road, Black Land. Although the census return is quite difficult to read I am reasonably sure that the above details are correct. If anybody has any ideas as to what and w...

Persevere Maitland and don't give up! Like you I had lots to go on with my father's maternal Highlands side and also with my mother's Isle of Man side but got to a brick wall around 1845 with my GGgfathers side in Ireland. I registered on lots of Irish forums and out of the blue an American woman w...

Alex Thank you very much. Her son Thomas Kelly (My GG Grandfather) was born on Moffats Land, Parkhead in 1842. His father was John Kelly b C1811 in Ireland.
