Re: Workplace Hates

I remember Pineapple Cakes in the bakery and Coffee Buns which were flat and the size of a saucer, and remember a paper bag of Tunnocks Brokies for a shilling from the Rutherglen Rd shop, we used to use bus money and walk to Adelphi! Pineapple cakes :) Used to eat those in Maclachlan's tea room in ...

Re: Workplace Hates

It's pretty much a 50/50 split, age wise, at my work. There's us old farts that've been around the block a few times Then there's "the kids" who are wired to the moon on those vile tasting energy drinks. Kind of depressing actually. All the girls are gorgeous, and I'm old enough to be the...

Re: Whit's fur tea?

Had my regular pint and fish supper night: bus to pub, pint(s) in pub, nip next door to chippie, order, back next door for pint(s), pick up fish supper, pint(s), bus home. This time 2 large cods and 1 bag of chips 19.18. Staff sympathetic but have to pass on their increased costs. Still best chippie...

Re: Glasgow People

I've been living dahn sarf for the last 50 years but all of these photos instantly connect me to Glasgow. It's not the obvious, like the landmarks, buses, tenements and so on, but the people themselves, their expressions and mannerisms. I wonder if people born and bred in other large city conurbatio...

Re: What are you watching?

Missions, late on BBC4, a French sci-fi 10x30min episodes. Watchable so far (episode 4) about a French science mission to Mars, crashes on the planet, meet an US military team allegedly sent to rescue them. Clearly they are the baddies, we'll see

Re: What are you watching?

Radar Men from the Moon, on TPTV. Unbelievably awful 1951 sci-fi series (episode 3 of 12 yesterday morning, but for some reason I find it watchable, given that the Cold War was about to start. Men that can fly from a standing start (copied from Superman?) and silly space helmets and so forth.

Re: Not really interesting facts about yourself

Had the first of the ol' COVID vaccination jags this morning. Went well I thought. Bish bosh, in and out again in twenty minutes. My only hassle was having to get a taxi to the vaccination centre. Damn near an hour I was standing at the bus stop, waiting on a McGills 901. *shakes fist at Easdale br...

Re: What are you watching?

BTW The original 1940s Superman and Popeye cartoons are on Talking Pictures TV if you want to watch something sensible. Along with Flash Gordon, The Lone Ranger, and Zorro. If they start showing Whirlybirds as well, that's my 70s childhood in a nutshell. :) Agreed. For a one-man-and-a-dog operation...

The comings and goings of our illustrious leader and her predecessor  . Living dahn sarf the issue is not plastered all over the printed media, so my understandings of this soap are a bit limited to the web. Re: Whit's fur tea?

Just finished a curry made out of lots of little dishes from Waitrose. Marvellous - the heat now needs to be dissipated with a few of my stash of beer from the local brewery. First non-homemade meal in months: I was getting a bit fed up with fresh greens and 'er indoors going on about how it was goo...
