On that topic of 'where it goes'- i.e- under a slightly security conscious building... How far are people on this forum willing to go, hypothetically? I have no interest in vandalism, deconstructing the past or petty loitering. I just like hidden things. The older, the better. It seems like sometime...

Not from Gartloch. Just that there are tunnels under the Royal. Otherwise that's be quite cool. Oh, this might be suicide. The Molindinar burn, starting way up near Gartcosh, the outlet into the clyde is the barred tunnel under the sheriff court? If so, for what length is it walkable- i.e- roof heig...

These the tunnels that run directly under the corridors? Similar to the ones at Hartwood? Poo. I was hoping for something more out of the way. Somebody told me there are tunnels from the war that lead to the Royal Infirmary.

Glencoe and Buichille Etive. Especially when climbing. The views are insane and the tranquility is simply unbelievable. Then the fear grips you and you climb back down. But dont look further than glasgow, some of the buildings we have are works of art. Look up next time you walk through town, see th...

I never introduced myself when i joined last year. Too shy. I'm looking for the innards of the earth and have visited, Woodilee- chased by neds! (I was with woman, otherwise I'd have fought em all. Yeah right.) Hartwood, Gartloch, St Peters, Been up the tower and all through Lennox castle and most o...

I get stressed out when i jump to the end of a thread and the plot seems to have gotten lost somewhere along the way. I don't like to look stoopeed. And making houses, sorry, modern luxury living spaces, out of architectural history. And those people that can afford to stay in them. Dont go into the...

Gartloch and beyond

Went to Gartloch for a browse recently. Found numerous things of note. Didn't realise there's a modern (ish) block, probably nurses accomodation SW of the main area, through some woods. Three storeys of excellent modern concrete. The basement is heavily flooded but worth a look. Also, found the grav...

I dont think so. The jetty/cutting out of the embankment is lined with cobbles at the side and is stepped. If it were an outflow for a burn it wouldn't have such dry features. Also, the feature of a man sized gate in the iron bars makes it look more utilitarian rather than just an outlet for the bur...

High Court River Access

Maybe my imagination is too active. On the north side of the clyde, on the riverbank is a jetty of sorts. It leads up to a tunnel? (of standard arch design). It has a full iron banded barrier across it with possibly a gate inset. It seems, if it goes anywhere , to lead off under the high court. Anyo...

There was the Corner Bar, a small blue (very blue nosed) pub nr. where they've built the new gorbals. Another sat opposite. The roads been closed off but it's just down from Cathcart rd. Terribly nasty looking joints.

Hartwood Hospital

Went to Hartwood hospital last friday. Near Shotts, east of a village called Bonkle. Like so many other old mental institutions, this ones quite cool. Built in 1890 it's in very good nick (many surrounding buildings demolished though and entirely gone.). Area still in use for laundry purposes (!) bu...

Of the 26 miles which lie between Loch Katrine and the Mugdock reservoir, 13 miles are tunneling, 3 3/4 miles are iron-piping, and the remainder, where the ground has been cut open, is an arched aqueduct. There are in the whole work, 70 distinct tunnels, upon which 44 vertical shafts were sunk for ...

Mugdock- that's up nr Lennoxtown?
If anyone's up there you oughta take a peek at Lennox castle if you've not already. I tried to get an OS map for this region but Borders were out of stock. I'll check those tunnels out.
Never too much too explore. :D :D :D
